Acid attack victim Vidya Dead | Chennai Acid attack victim Vidhya dies in hospital Posted: 23 Feb 2013 08:42 PM PST Acid attack victim Vidya Dead | Chennai Acid attack victim Vidhya dies in hospital சென்னையில் ஆசிட் வீச்சில் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட வித்யா இன்று அதிகாலையில் மரணமடைந்தார்.திருமணம் செய்ய மறுத்த வித்யா மீது கடந்த ஜனவரி 30ல் விஜயபாஸ்கர் என்பவர் ஆசிட் வீசினார்.இதனால் சென்னை கீழ்ப்பாக்கம் மருத்துவமனையில் சிகிச்சை பெற்று வந்தார். இந்நிலையில் இன்று அதிகாலையி்ல் சிகிச்சை பலனளிக்காததால் வித்யா மரணமடைந்தார்.கடந்த இரு வாரங்களுக்கு முன்னர் அமில வீச்சினால் பாதிக்கப்பட்ட காரைக்கால் மாணவி விநோதினி கடந்த 12-ம் தேதி உயிரிழந்தார். இந்நிலையில் அதே போன்று அமிலவீச்சினால் வித்யா உயிரிழந்‌துள்ளார். இதன் மூலம் அமில வீ்ச்சில் பலியானவர்களின் எண்ணி்‌க்கை 2 ஆக அதி்கரித்துள்ளது. விஜயபாஸ்கர் தற்போது சிறையில் உள்ளார். வினோதினி:காதலிக்க மறுத்ததற்காக முகத்தில் ஆசிட் வீசப்பட்டு தற்போது மருத்துவமனையில் சிகிச்சை பெற்ற வரும் வினோதினி என்ற இளம் பெண், மருத்துவ செலவிற்கு கூட பணமின்றி கஷ்டப்பட்டார். சென்னையில் சாப்ட்வேட் இன்ஜினியராக பணிபுரிந்து வந்தவர் காரைக்காலைச் சேர்ந்த வினோதினி (23). இவர் மீது ஒருதலையாக காதல் வயப்பட்ட இவரதுநண்பர் சுரேஷ் (24) என்பவர், தனது காதலை மறுத்த ஆத்திரத்தில், கடந்த நவம்பர் 14ம் தேதி, வினோதினி முகத்தில் ஆசிட் வீசினார். இதில் முகம், கழுத்து, கைகள் மற்றும் மார்பு பகுதி முழுவதும் கருகிய நிலையில், பார்வையை முற்றிலுமாக இழந்து சென்னை கீழ்ப்பாக்கம் மருத்துவமனையில் சிகிச்சை பெற்று வந்‌‌தார். வினோதினி. பார்வை முற்றிலும் பறிபோன நிலையிலும், கண்ணில் அவருக்கு பல கட்ட பிளாஸ்டிக் சர்ஜரி ஆபரேஷன்கள் செய்யப்பட்டன. அவரது கால் பகுதியிலிருந்து தசை எடுக்கப்பட்டு, கண்ணில் பொருத்தப்பட்டது.பின்னர் சிகிச்சை பலனின்றி கடந்த பிப்.,12 ஆம் தேதி மரணமடைந்தார்.தற்போது வித்யாவும் மரணமடைந்திருப்பது அதிர்ச்சியை அளிக்கிறது. Acid attack claims one more victim in Chennai Vidya, a 20-year-old victim of acid attack, died in Chennai early Sunday. She had suffered severe burns and was being treated at the Government Kilpauk Hospital. Hospital authorities said she had sustained fourth degree burns which had corroded soft tissues. She was also battling infection for the past four days. On January 30, 20-year-old Vidya, who was working in an internet browsing centre in Adambakkam, was accosted by Vijaya Bhaskar. Vidya was alone at the centre during lunch time when Vijaya Bhaskar, angry that she had spurned him, confronted her. When he tried to throw a bottle of acid at her, she turned away, and the acid burnt her back. He prevented her from escaping by pushing her down onto the acid splashed on the floor. He then locked the door and escaped Police had registered a case of attempt to murder. On Sunday morning, the case was amended to murder and registered it under Section 302 of IPC.

The Launch Authorisation Board earlier cleared the launch schedule for February 25 at 5.56 PM from the first launch pad in Sriharikota, about 90 kms from here, Indian Space Research Organisation sources said. PSLV-C20, the 23rd PSLV Mission of ISRO, would put the 400 kg Indo-French satellite and six others into orbit. SARAL refers to Satellite with ARgos and ALtika. The French space agency CNES has developed ARgos and Altikameter for analysing the ocean. The rehearsal launch of PSLV - C20 with the primary satellite SARAL and six other foreign satellites has been completed satisfactorily, the sources said. The other six auxiliary payloads are -- two each from Canada, Austria and one each from Denmark and the United Kingdom. President Pranab Mukherjee is likely to witness the launch along with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy.

N. Kothandapani (56) and his wife Bharathi (50), were the parents of K. Niranjan (25), who was among the six who died in an abortive bid to escape in the choppy waters. While 22 of the 37 crew members on board jumped into the sea and escaped in a lifeboat, five drowned as the lifeboat capsized. One of the remaining 17 died in hospital. In a suicide note addressed to "judges", Mr. Kothandapani said there was no justice for his family. No arrests had been made. "... nobody is there to save us. No money for treatment and no proper food, we became like beggars. So, we decided to end our life by hanging." And the hapless father had a final appeal. "At least, save the other five children's parents." In the Madras High Court on Friday, their lawyer accused the court registry of delaying payment of compensation to the families of the victims, even though the shipping company had deposited Rs. 30 lakh on December 3 based on an interim order from the court, which had ordered disbursement of Rs.five lakh each the families. The couple ended their lives on their wedding anniversary. Just when their lawyers were planning to file a contempt petition in the High Court to expedite implementation of the orders for payment of compensation. Counsel S.Prabakaran told the court of Justice N.Paul Vasanthakumar that the order granting compensation to the victims' families was crystal clear. Following the order, the family approached the Registrar-General and submitted a legal heirship certificate. When a question arose as to whether Rs. five lakh should be paid to the victim's father or mother, the parents submitted an affidavit that the money be handed over to Mr. Kothandapani. A letter was also given to the Registrar-General, G.Chockalingam, requesting him to implement the court order. The registry did not obey the court order, Mr. Prabakaran said. When the family was told that a contempt petition was to be filed, the parents asked whether court proceedings would have to be started again. Mr. Justice Vasanthakumar summoned Mr.Chockalingam, who came to the court. Mr. Kothandapani's request for donating their organs to the needy could not be carried out as the police got the information about their deaths late. Hyderabad: Investigators working to unravel the plot behind Thursday's bomb blasts in Hyderabad have reportedly detained six people and questioned many more while close circuit television or CCTV footage has revealed a possible suspect who may have planted the bombs. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will visit Hyderabad on Sunday. Here are the latest developments: Sources say the suspect caught on CCTV footage from Dilsukhnagar, the blast site, is seen coming on a bicycle with a bag hanging in front, which the police believe carried the bombs. When he returned, he was on foot, not bicycle. (CCTV footage shows 'suspect' on bicycle) Hyderabad police chief Anurag Sharma said today that no arrests had been made or terror group identified, and while evidence was being carefully put together, it was too early to draw conclusions. He said police had been deployed in full strength after receiving the intelligence alert before the blasts. (Dilsukhnagar limps back to normalcy) To gather more evidence, the National Investigation Agency or NIA is raiding various places: Azamgarh in Uttar Pradesh, Darbhanga in Bihar and Nanded and Beed in Maharashtra. The ban was part of security measures to avert any intrusion of anti-social elements, Assistant Director of Fisheries, Tamil Nadu Fisheries Department Thilomin Thyagarajan told UNI today. We have stopped issuing fishing tokens this morning and the fishermen will be allowed to begin their fishing activities from February 25 onwards," he said. Although 900 mechanized fishing boats were in operational in Rameswaram - one of the major marine food centre in South India, about 600-700 boats used to venture into the Sea for fishing trip in alternative days. Besides, the country boats will also keep off the Sea for the five days. Meanwhile, hectic preparations were on for the Katchatheevu festival. The Ramanathapuram district administration had already instructed the pilgrims coming from all over Tamil Nadu and neighbouring states to produce attested No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their respective police stations, along with their applications to travel to katchatheevu to attend the festival. The pilgrims were barred from carrying Indian currency notes, liquor, inflammable materials like kerosene, stove, cigarettes, arms and ammunitions. The pilgrims were advised to report at the Rameswaram fishing jetty on the morning of February 23 and after a thorough check up by the security agencies, they will set sail to the Katchatheevu Island with Indian Coast Guard (ICG) protection. The ICG will accompany the pilgrims up to the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL), where they will be handed over to the SriLankan navy to head for the Katchatheevu. The festival will begin on February 23 with the hoisting of flag at the church. About 4000 pilgrims were expected to attend the festival this year. The 275-acre uninhabited Island of Katchatheevu in the Palk Strait was gifted to Lanka in 1974 by the then Prime Minister Indhra Gandhi in a goodwill gesture. The Island became a centre of controbversy, after the SriLankan government banned the entry of Indians to participate in Antony's Church festival in the year 1982 and denied permission to the Indian fishermen to poach around the Island, subsequent to the intensification of the civil war in the Island nation. Thereafter, several Indian fishermen were killed and injured in recurring attacks by Lankan navy on several occasions, prompting the regional parties to pressurize the Centre to retrieve the Island from Lanka.
